Caring Ministry

At St. Paul, we love each other when life gets rough. That’s why we have our Caring Ministries, described below, to provide support, prayer, and care for our members and the community. If you need the support of any of the following care ministries, or want to help with them, call the church office, 734.676.1565.

Our Caring Ministries

Hospital / Homebound

St. Paul provides ongoing care and visitation to all members and loved ones who are physically unable to be present at St. Paul for worship, programs, and activities. Please call the church office to request a visit from our team.

e-Prayer Chain

St. Paul offers daily prayers in the form of an e-prayer chain. Call or email the Church Office with your request for prayers. We daily e-mail prayers and bombard the throne of God. Our staff regularly prays for needs of others, as well.

Benevolence Fund

St. Paul maintains a fund for those in need in our church and community. We provide gift cards for food and gas, as well as other financial support as needed. We rely on the generous donations of our member to support this fund. You can give to the Benevolence Fund through online giving or mail a check to St. Paul Lutheran Church with Benevolence Fund in the memo.

Christmas Caring Tree

At Christmas time, St. Paul members can provide gifts to those in need. Find the true Spirit of Christmas by participating in this project.

Thanksgiving

At each Thanksgiving Eve service, our congregation and preschool collect hundreds of bags of food and other donations to support families in need both Downriver and in Detroit during the seasons of Advent and Christmas.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Prayer Shawls/Comfort Quilts are knit or crocheted for St. Paul Members and friends that are ill or going through treatment or other challenges. Without knowing who will receive it, each shawl is hand made with love and prayer for the person who will receive it. May this gift be a source of warmth and comfort and a reminder of the love of Christ, His healing power, and comforting presence. Register here to receive a Prayer Shawl.

Seminars & Support

We have lots of other opportunities to encourage you in faith and life, including Grief Seminars, Stephen Ministry, AA, Bereaved Parents support, and Pastoral Counseling. Contact our church office for our latest support offerings.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
