Women's Ministry

The purpose of Women’s Ministry of St. Paul Lutheran Church is to promote, encourage and support the Christian growth of all the women of our church, to assist in the development and use of women’s spiritual gifts and to sponsor fellowship activities, reaching out to all women of our community. If you have any ideas or need more information, please contact the Church Office at 734.676.1565.

The main focus of this “secret prayer pal” program is to provide Christian support to one another through prayer. One prays daily for their Sister in Heart and sends cards and notes of encouragement throughout the year. The participants meet once a year in February for tea to reveal their identity to one another and then draw another name for the coming year. February is the time to join this exciting ministry.

Fall Craft Show

The St. Paul Fall Craft Show and Bake Sale takes place from 9 am to 3 pm on the third Saturday in October each year and has grown to become one of Downriver’s largest craft shows. The profits are used for Women’s Ministry and towards special church projects.

Advent By Candlelight

The evening is planned for the women of St. Paul and their guests to gather for an inspirational message and special music to help prepare our hearts for the Christmas season—the TRUE meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus. It is beautiful. Held on the first Tuesday in Advent in the Christian Life Center.

Patchwork Quilters

This ministry involves a group of dedicated ladies who meet every other week throughout the year (then take the summer off) to piece together and hand-tie quilts. Much of the material used is donated from members and friends of the congregation. The completed quilts have been given to MOST Ministries (Mission Opportunities Short Term) and to some of our own St. Paul mission teams to take with them to the mission fields. No experience required—just willing hands and helpful hearts!

LWML Mite Box Collection

The women of the congregation participate in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) Mite Box collections. All monies collected here at St. Paul are sent to LWML, who uses the funds to provide financial assistance to active mission ministries and projects, locally and around the world. Mite Boxes are small folding cardboard boxes that can be found at the Information Center. There are three collection dates per year: February, May and October.

We support LIFE, and in an effort to support LIFE in a non-hostile way, we annually host a drop-off baby shower for a local Crisis Pregnancy Center. The entire congregation and community are invited to participate by purchasing and donating pre-determined baby gifts. When one gives in His name, both the heart of the giver and the taker are blessed.
