Vacation Bible School 2018!
We had an awesome week at Vacation Bible School as 180 children ages 4 and 5 and in 1st to 5th grade joined us for B.A.S.I.C. Elements. New this year was a science themed VBS and it was a hit! Each day we explored a basic element of the Christian faith and were involved in science experiment devotions and science projects.
On Monday, B was for Believe. We learned that it is through faith that Jesus saves us and we become a member of His kingdom. Rockets were the project of the day and Ultraviolet Beads helped us understand how we are transformed by faith in Jesus.
On Tuesday, A was for Ask. We learned that Jesus gives us the gift of prayer so that we might trust Him for all good things. Slime was the project of the day and an awesome magnetic resistance tube helped us understand that sometimes, God doesn’t answer our prayers right away, but uses prayer to help us trust Him more.
On Wednesday, S was for Serve. We learned that God gives us unique gifts to contribute to the Kingdom of God. Bridge building was the project of the day and helped us to see that we are better when we serve together. The awesome Energy Ball helped us understand that we need to keep connected to each other in the Kingdom of God.
On Thursday, I was for Impact. We learned that God wants us to influence the world by sharing His love and Word. Catapults were the project of the day and they certainly helped us understand what it means to make an impact. The thermal square was a very visual way to see that our touch can make a big impact for Jesus.
On Friday, C was for Celebrate and what a celebration it was and will be one day in Heaven. We learned that each day we need to celebrate the awesome gift we look forward to in Heaven for eternity and the great celebration it will be. Our project, a chemical experiment showed us that in Heaven we too will be transformed into a new, perfect creation. The pressure pullers reminded us there is nothing that can ever separate us from the love of Jesus. Not now. Not ever!
Another great week at VBS! Thanks to the over 80 youth and adult volunteers who made this week possible. And thank you to all the kids who blessed us with many, many school supplies for our Back to School Fair that was held at the end of August. God bless you all!
