Missions are a vital part of every church community and that is no different here at St. Paul. We are committed to sharing the Gospel across cultures locally and globally.

Locally, we support Act 2 Enterprise (A2E), Spirit of Hope, Luke 5/2 Project, Family of God, and MOST Ministries. We support these organizations financially and also send teams to help with these ministries.

Globally, we support individual missionaries financially as well as send short-term mission teams to do hands on activities such as construction projects and Vacation Bible Schools. In the past, we have sent teams to such places as the Czech Republic, Ghana and Vietnam. Currently we are sending teams each year to Neah Bay, Washington, partnering with Lutheran Indian Ministries. We also support Rev. James & Deaconess Christel Neuendorf in Puerto Rico, and Deaconess Kim Bueltmann in Germany, Compassion International, and World Vision.

If you are interested in participating in missions with St. Paul contact the Church Office at 734.676.1565 or email us at missions@splconline.com, and we will put you in touch with our Mission Team Leader. For periodic news on our mission work, sign up for our missions newsletter

Acts 2 Enterprise (A2E) Sports Camp - June 24-28

Now that spring break is over, the countdown to summer is on! Long hot days and star filled nights ….

As a kid I loved to play in the creek that was near our house on hot summer days. There were so many living creatures in that creek. I bet they loved playing with me for hours each day! ☺ What a blessing long summer days are. Sometimes I forget to count the simple blessing of living in a safe area that allows me to be out and about in my yard and community. One summer at A2E’s sports camp I was reminded that not all are so lucky.

A few years ago, while we were taking a break from sports camp, a car backfired in the neighborhood behind the park. We all jumped! Then the kids around me, who had just been laughing and playing, obviously had their guards up. One girl I had just met grabbed my hand and slid very close to my side. You see, these children have been raised hearing gunfire in the distance. They were used to protecting themselves when they heard loud noises. As that realization washed over me, I was heartbroken!

Pastor Chris Bodley, Senior Pastor at Bethany Lutheran in Detroit and director of Acts to Enterprise (A2E), has been hosting east side sports camp for years. This camp gives these children the chance to learn of God’s love, attend a safe, five-day sports camp, and eat dinner each night—all for free! That’s why the east side camp averaged 70 campers each day last summer, even with rain! This camp has proven so successful that there are now four sites hosting camps each summer. These kids that need it the most are able to count on a safe and fun experience each year due in part to many volunteers.

Once again St. Paul will be sending a team of volunteers to Pastor Bodley’s camp during the week of June 24-28. Won’t you please consider donating one or more evening to help fill our team? We carpool from downriver, no sports knowledge is necessary, and you will have a lot of fun! For more information please contact Yvette Gronda at ygronda@gmail.com or 734.642.6024.
